Surbiton Golf Croquet One Day Competition - September 2013

Don Beck writes:

Eighteen players assembled from various southeast clubs and South Africa!

After a mixed start , the weather slowly improving, the players settled to a competitive days play.

Mike Beaney set a high standard with four straight wins but then retired at lunch. It looked likely that George Rowland would takeover but lost to Martin Burger.

This left a final round decider between Martin and Janet Trueman. Janet took a good early lead only to miss 2 in/off chances. Martin held his nerve to win 7-5. He also had his handicap reduced from 5 to 4. ( The second successive oneday tournament where his handicap has fallen)

Final positions....

1.. Martin Burger
2.. George Rowland
3.. Janet Trueman.

We can all rest-up and practise before the series resumes next year.
