Surbiton hosted its first Association Croquet Hibiscus handicap tournament on Saturday, 27th August. Twelve players entered the the competition and for many this was their first experience of a tournament. Each entrant played three games lasting 2 1/2 hours and still found time for an enjoyable BBQ lunch.
When all games were complete, two players had won all their games; Trudi Pulsford and Mike Hampson then took part in a shoot-out at the peg to determine the overall winner. Trudi comprehensively won that play-off and so became the first holder of the "Koru" trophy."
