A record 29 club members assembled for this, the fifth 'Hazel Nuts' alternate stroke doubles event. We had four rounds of shortened games and everybody had a different partner for each round. Each pairing comprised an 'improver' partnering a more experienced player.
The final, watched by club president and trophy donor, Hazel Kittermaster, was between Mike Hampson and Lorraine Hellen against Daphne Gaitley and Bill Cannon. In a very close finish Daphne and Bill won by just one hoop and were awarded the trophies along with some nice wine by Hazel, while Mike and Lorraine each had a pot of the manager's jam by way of consolation.
It was great to see so many beginners playing - ten had handicaps of 20 or more and hopefully they learnt a lot as well as having an enjoyable day. Kitty, along with helpers, organised a superb lunch.
