Cheltenham 2-4 Surbiton
This match was played on the Wednesday of the ac opens at Cheltenham.
After much re-arranging of teams we were finally off, playing on lawns which were showing the effect of the hot weather. The hoops were firm but not too challenging.
The Surbiton team featured the debut of James Death playing at 3 and he won both his games.
In the gathering gloom with last food orders called it was decided not to play the dead rubber of the doubles.
