The Hazel Nuts (Alternate Stroke Handicap Doubles)

Kevin Carter writes:

The third running of the 'Hazel Nuts' alternate stroke doubles event on 26th July saw 26 players participating. Club president and trophy donor, Hazel Kittermaster, made the chocolate brownies for tea, awarded the prizes and made a gracious speech.

Three players tied on three wins in the top half. Based on net points, evergreen Brian Rees came out on top, with Mary Knapp second. A special prize went to Sue Thrussell, who was returning to croquet and Surbiton after a spell in the Devon wilderness.

In the lower half there was a clear winner. Jonathan Edwards won all four rounds and collected a trophy from his disbelieving mother-in-law. Second place went to Iden Coleman and the special prize to Lorraine Hellen.
