In our final U League game of the season, the opposition were unfortunately one short. In a close finish, Julian missed a longish peg out and Chas then won +1. After an indifferent start, Mike recovered well to beat Chris +2 and George and John beat David in the (non-counting) ‘doubles’ to give us a 3-0 lead at lunch. In uncertain weather conditions, Mike happily took the opportunity to leave the battlefield. His default win gave us the match, which was perhaps just as well as Julian made full use of his bisques to beat George +17, David played well to beat Chas +18 and John eventually succumbed to Chris by 6.
Final score: Surbiton 4, Chichester & Fishbourne 3.
