'Winning team'

England won the Home Internationals competition held at Surbiton Croquet Club last weekend. Teams of five from each of the home countries played each other in the three round event and England came out on top with three wins. Wales were second.

The quality of the play was exceptional, especially by the England team. There were 31 triple peels and one sextuple in the 71 games played. Garden croquet players will be horrified to read that the hoops were only 1/16th inch wider than the balls.

Three Surbiton club members were in the England team; Chris Patmore, Chris Farthing and Samir Patel, and Tony Mrozinski of Guildford and Godalming played for Wales
