The weather held out with just occasional light showers for our second U league match, but the freshly cut lawns were surprisingly slow and for most of us, difficult. John D & Sue volunteered for the doubles and achieved a comfortable +18 win against John G & Audrey. However, Robert (+17 against Colin) and Mark (+15 against Chas) proved too good for us and we adjourned for the pub lunch 2-1 down. After the break, Colin quickly put us on level terms with a splendid +26 against John G. That was the end of the good news though - Sue eventually succumbed by 7 to Robert, John D lost a great struggle also by 7 after being pegged out and finally Audrey played very well to beat Chas by 14.
Final score: Guildford & Godalming 5, Surbiton 2.
