Surbiton won the national Association Croquet InterClub Championship on 4 October, to become the champion AC club in England. They defeated Bowdon 5-2 in the final, ending a miserable run of three consecutive years in which they went out in the first round. The final, played at neutral venue Letchworth, was a hard-fought affair that was closer than the score implies, and if Jack Good had completed either of his finishing turns against Stephen Mulliner, the concluding game would have been a very nervy affair that might well have turned out differently. However Stephen hit his second "last shot", and finished with a nerveless TP to send the trophy back to Surbiton.
