CLOSED TOURNAMENT RULES 2015

  1. Applicable handicap restrictions will be at time of entry.
     
  2. “Play-by” dates are posted for all events.  All players are expected to make every effort to contact opponents and arrange for matches to be played in accordance with these dates.  If matches cannot be played in keeping with this schedule, extensions of time can be granted but only with very good reason.  Players who are holding up the progress of the tournament will be scratched so that others may proceed on schedule.
     
  3. Only fully paid-up members may participate.
     
  4. AC handicap doubles will be played in accordance with CA tournament regulation L4 TRIAL AC HANDICAP DOUBLES VARIATION
     
  5. There will be no times limits except those agreed between the players.
     
  6. Golf croquet will be played in accordance with WCF rules.
    In addition the new Effective handicap system will be used.
     
  7. In any event where a playoff is required, all matches must be finished by 7 September in order to be included in the standings. In all other events the deadline for inclusion is 3 October.
     
  8. In case of a tie in any event the winner will be determined as follows:

Association rules events:

  1. who beat whom
  2. quality of wins formula

Golf croquet events:

  1. who beat whom
  2. net points
IN THE GOLF CROQUET EVENTS IT IS IMPORTANT TO RECORD ALL SCORES IN FULL.  TWO GAMES TO ONE IS UNSATISFACTORY.  THE RESULT SHOULD BE RECORDED AS 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, FOR EXAMPLE

EXPLANATIONS FOR THOSE UNACQUAINTED WITH CROQUET TERMINOLOGY

Handicap: Games played with extra turns given to the weaker player(s)
Advanced: A more complex non-handicap game for the better players.
Advanced Handicap: The complex version played with extra handicap turns.
2+ and 16+ : For those with handicap 2 and over or 16 and over respectively.
Base 6 and Base 10 : The bisque allowance for all players is calculated as if their opponent has a handicap equal to the base (unless they or their opponent has a lower handicap than the base - in which case the bisque allowance is calculated in the normal way.)
Thus in banded block D, all players will receive bisques. For example a 24 handicapper would receive 18 bisques.
Similarly, in the All England Qualifyer, if the players' handicaps were 18 and 12, they would receive 8 and 2 bisques respectively. However, if the lower handicapped player had a handicap of 7 (which is below the base 0f 10), the 18 handicapper would receive 11 bisques and the 7 handicapper none.
